On Sunday, April 17th, one of our officers was on patrol when he spotted a vehicle failing to yield the right-of-way to pedestrians in a marked crosswalk. After stopping the vehicle, officers discovered that the driver did not have a valid license. She was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with a Crosswalk Violation and No Driver’s License.
On Monday, April 18th, officers responded to a home under construction in reference to a report of vandalism. During the course of the investigation, officers learned that someone had entered the structure and spray painted graffiti, to include an image of a penis, on the wood frame and insulation.
On Thursday. April 21st, officers responded to a report of a vehicle playing loud music. After locating the vehicle traveling down Butler Avenue, the officers noticed that it did not have a license plate displayed. During the course of the subsequent traffic stop, the driver claimed that the vehicle belonged to his boss, but was unable to provide any proof of registration or ownership. Officers also discovered that the driver’s license was suspended. He was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a Tag and Driving While License Suspended.
On Friday, April 22nd, one of our officers responded to a report of a possible drunk driver on Tybrisa Street. While on his way to the area, the officer spotted the suspect vehicle traveling on Butler Avenue. During this time, he also noticed that the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed for the area and was failed to maintain it’s lane by crossing over the center line. At that time, he utilized his RADAR device to check the vehicle’s speed at 45 mph in a 30 mph speed zone. After stopping the vehicle, the officer was able to smell an odor similar to an alcoholic drink emitting from the driver’s breath and body. During the course of the subsequent investigation, our officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. The driver was then placed under arrest and charged with Speeding, Failure to Maintain Lane and DUI.
That same date, another officer was on patrol in the area of Butler Avenue when he spotted a vehicle failing to maintain it’s lane by crossing over the divider lines several times. After stopping the vehicle, the officer was able to smell a faint odor similar to that of an alcoholic beverage emitting from within. While speaking with the officer, the driver consented to a search of his vehicle. During the course of that search, the officer located marijuana, two plastic bags containing a white powdery substance and an open container of alcohol. The driver was subsequently charged with Failure to Maintain Lane, Open Container and DUI.
On Saturday, April 23rd, officers were in the area of the Park at Seven Flags when they spotted a man and woman swimming in a nearby fountain. The man then sat on the edge of the fountain as the woman climbed onto his lap as they began to grind against one another as if having sex. After ordering the pair out of the fountain, officers noticed that both had slurred speech and appeared to be attempting to help each other stay on their feet as they stumbled around. After being told that it was time to walk home for the evening, the woman refused to go, resulting in officers moving to place her under arrest. As they did so, the woman pushed and pulled against officers in an effort to avoid being placed in handcuffs. She was later charged with Disorderly Conduct and Obstruction.
Also on Saturday, officers were on patrol when they were flagged down in reference to a fight at a local restaurant. Upon entering the establishment, officers saw that tables had been flipped and food was scattered across the floor. During the course of the investigation, officers learned that the fight had been between two women. After identifying the primary aggressor, officers placed her under arrest and charged her with Simple Battery on the other.
That same date, one of our officers was on patrol in the area of Butler Avenue and Highway 80 when he spotted a vehicle approaching the sharp curve at a high rate of speed. As the vehicle entered the curve, it crossed over the double-yellow lines into the oncoming lanes of travel. After stopping the vehicle, the officer smelled a strong odor similar to that of an alcoholic drink emitting from the driver. During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with Failure to Maintain Lane, Driving on the Wrong Side of the Road and DUI.
Again, on Saturday, officers responded to a local address in reference to a dispute between neighbors. While speaking with the parties involved, officers learned that during the course of the altercation, one of the men had punched a hole in the screen door leading to the other’s porch. That same man told officers that they needed to take one of the parties involved to jail because if officers didn’t arrest somebody the two were going to “go at it”. He was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with Disorderly Conduct.
