• Officers responded to the area of Bay Street in reference to a fight. While speaking with the two men involved, officers noted that both appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. When instructed to have a seat on the ground, one of the men complied, while the other refused. When asked for his identification, the non-compliant man again refused, took an aggressive stance towards officers, and at one point claimed to be a “MMA fighter”. Not taking any chances, officers took the man to the ground and placed him in handcuffs. Both suspects were subsequently charged with Disorderly Conduct.

  • Officers took a report in reference to a lost firearm. While speaking with our team, the complainant stated that the gun had one missing from their residence sometime between April and July of 2023. A report was filed, an no further action was taken during that time.

  • While on patrol, one of our officers was flagged down about a car side-swiping a golf cart in the area of Fort and Van Horne. According to one of the occupants of the golf cart, the car had attempted to leave the scene following the collision. While talking to the driver of the car, the officer noticed that her eyes were “glossy”, and there was an odor similar to that of an alcoholic drink emitting from her breath as she spoke. When asked, the woman admitted to drinking wine and soda earlier that evening. During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the woman had been operating the vehicle while under the influence. She was then placed under arrest and charged with DUI.

    One of the passengers on the golf cart was treated for injuries and released from the scene.

  • One of our officers stopped a vehicle for traveling at 63 mph in a 35 mph speed zone. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer noticed that several of the occupants had open beer bottles in their laps. It should go without saying that there was an overwhelming odor similar to that of an alcoholic drink emitting from within the car. While talking with the driver, the officer noticed a similar odor on his breath, and that he slurred his words as he spoke. During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating the vehicle while under the influence. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Speeding, Open Container, and DUI.

    Officers responded to the 15 1/2 Street beach crossover after Ocean Rescue personnel reported an intoxicated man who was harassing others on the beach. While officers were in the area, several bystanders approached them to complain about the man harassing others, including families with small children who were attempting to enjoy the beach. Our team eventually located the suspect on the pier. While speaking with the man, officers noticed that his eyes were red, and he seemed unsteady on his feet. He was also clutching a water bottle filled with a dark brown mystery substance. During the course of the conversation, the man informed the officers that he was “drinking and high on mushrooms”. Due to his level of intoxication and disorderly behavior, the officers ordered him to leave the area. Instead, he began to dance in a mocking and defiant manner. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Disorderly Conduct.

    Officers responded to a local motel in reference to a disorderly person. While checking the area, the officers found a man peeing in view of eight young children, who were swimming in the nearby pool. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Disorderly Conduct.

  • Shortly after 3AM, officers responded to a local bar in reference to a disorderly female. While speaking with our team, one of the bar’s employees told the officers that the woman had been lying on the floor and attempting to grab other customers. Officers offered to give the woman a ride back to her vacation rental, but she refused.

    Not long after, we received a report of someone knocking on the doors of random houses in the area. During the course of the investigation, officers found the woman rattling the handle of a rear door on a nearby business. She was then placed under arrest and charged with Disorderly Conduct.

    Officers responded to an address on Van Horne after the caller found a stranger slumped over in the front seat of his vehicle. Upon their arrival. the officers found a woman asleep behind the wheel. She was then placed under arrest and charged with Criminal Trespass and Loitering and Prowling.

    Officers responded to the Chatham Avenue parking lot for an abandoned vehicle. Upon inspection, officers noticed that the car had suffered extensive front-end damage, had a cracked windshield, there were multiple wires hanging loose, and the taillights were busted. After being unable to locate the rightful owner, officers towed the vehicle from the lot due to it being unsafe to operate on the roadways of Georgia.

    Officers responded to an address on Shirley Road after the caller claimed that someone had brandished a firearm at him. While speaking with our team, the caller reported that he had attempted to patronize a local bar but was denied entry. The caller then stated that one of the bar’s security guards pulled him around the corner, where the guard pulled a gun from his waistband and threatened the caller. During a follow-up investigation, the officer noted that while both of the bar’s guards were carrying guns, they were being carried in an open and exposed manner, and not concealed inside of a waistband.
