• One of our officers stopped a vehicle for a seatbelt violation. While speaking with the driver, the officer learned that the man’s license was suspended. He was then placed under arrest and charged accordingly.

    Later that afternoon, officers responded to the parking lot of a local restaurant in reference to a vehicle fire. While speaking with our team, bystanders reported that two fire extinguishers had already been used on the fire to minimal effect. An officer then deployed his own extinguisher to help control the flames until the Fire Department arrived to douse them. No one was injured as a result of this incident.

    Officers responded to the area of Strand Avenue after receiving information that a runaway juvenile was at that location. Once on scene, officers successfully located the runaway, and coordinated with their family to make arrangements to return them to their home in Gwinnett County.

  • Officers responded to a local business in reference a report of found property. While speaking with our team, staff members reported that a fellow employee found a syringe marked “Fentanyl” on the property that same morning. Officers took custody of the syringe and disposed of it in a biohazard container.

    Officers responded to a residence on 11th Street in reference to a trespasser. While speaking with our team, a witness provided a description of the female suspect, and reported watching her go into an area underneath the house. While checking the area, officers located the suspect, who admitted to storing her belongings underneath the residence to prevent them from being stolen. During the course of the investigation, officers learned that the woman had an active felony warrant from another jurisdiction. She was then placed under arrest and transported to the Chatham County Detention Center to answer for her non-local warrant.

  • Officers responded to a local condominium complex in reference to a possible theft. While speaking with our team, the victim stated that she had last seen her bicycle the evening prior. When she returned to retrieve it that day, her bike, and approximately 6 others that had been on the rack next to it were gone. A report was filed, and a case number was provided to management in case other victims came forward.

  • Officers responded to a local business in reference to a possible theft. While speaking with our team, the victim stated that someone had stolen his bicycle from the property around 11:30 that morning. An employee mentioned that surveillance cameras may have caught the theft taking place, and they were asked to notfy the police department iif that turned out to be the case.

  • One of our officers stopped a vehicle for a seatbelt violation. During the course of the investigation, the officer learned that not only was the driver’s license suspended, but he also had a warrant from another jurisdiction. The driver was then placed under arrest and transported to the Chatham County Detention Center to answer for his non-local warrant.

    Officers responded to the area of Fisherman’s Walk in reference to a large group of juveniles drinking underage and acting in a disorderly manner. According to a witness, most of the teenagers ran from the scene after hearing officers approaching. One young man, however, decided to stay behind and speak with our team. During the course of the investigation, that teenager became belligerent, demanding to see “video footage” of the group’s reported disorderly behavior. During the course of their conversation, officers were able to smell an odor similar to that of an alcoholic drink emitting from the teen’s breath when he spoke. When asked for his identification, the young man claimed that he “didn’t have it”, before attempting to walk away. After ignoring repeated commands to stop and identify himself, the teen was placed under arrest ad charged with Disorderly Conduct.

    One of our officers stopped a vehicle for a Window Tint Violation. While speaking with the driver, the officer was able to smell a strong odor of marijuana and noticed visible smoke wafting throughout the vehicle. A subsequent search based probable cause, revealed marijuana, a bag of white powder that field tested positive for Cocaine, an several pills believed to be MDMA. The driver was then placed under arrest and charged with Window Tint Violation, Driving While License Suspended, and two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance. All of the drugs were taken into police custody and will be sent to the GBI Crime Lab for positive identification.

    Officers responded to Fisherman’s Walk in reference to a possible incident of Entering an Auto. While speaking with our team, the victim stated that she parked her car in the lot and left it unlocked while she went to the beach. Upon her return, she found two young men inside of the car, rummaging through her belongings. She then chased the men to the area of 18th Street, where she lost sight of them. A report was filed, and the case was forwarded to investigations.
