• Officers responded to a residence on Chatham Avenue in reference to damaged property. While speaking with our team, the victim pointed out several large scratches and paint transfer on the side of her vehicle. It wasn't immediately clear where or when the damage may have been inflicted. A report was filed, and the victim was provided with a case number for follow-up purposes.

    Later that day, officers received a report involving Theft of Services. While speaking with our team, the caller stated that she manages a short-term vacation rental in the area of Naylor Avenue. The caller further stated that a subject previously attempted to book a seven day stay on the property, but the card they used to make the $2,326 payment was declined. Nevertheless, a van load of people showed up and accessed the front door on the desired day of check-in. The caller doesn't know how the suspects defeated the security measures in place but noted that nothing appeared to have been damaged or stolen. A report was filed, and the case remains under investigation.

  • Officers responded to the 900 block of Butler Avenue for a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, our team learned that a man had assaulted his female companion, before running away from the scene.

    While checking the area, officers spotted the man running through residential neighborhoods. During the course of the subsequent pursuit, one of our officers was able to catch up to the man and tackled him to the ground as crossed Highway 80. Once in handcuffs, the man kicked an officer in leg, and then proceeded to spit in his face, daring the officer to hit him. Ever the professional, the officer decided to let the man answer for his disgusting actions in court. The suspect was then charged with Battery (Family Violence Act), Obstruction, and Simple Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer.

    Officers responded to a local bar in reference to Theft of Services. While speaking with our team, employees stated that a man and woman had ordered two shots of tequila and then left without paying. While checking the area, officers found that the suspects had passed out on a bench while enjoying the night air. Try as they might, they were unable to wake the pair. At that time, emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and transported both to an area hospital for treatment.

  • After spotting a car parked in the middle of Highway 80 and Jones, one of our officers approached the vehicle to investigate further. While speaking with the officer, the female driver stated that the car "was not working". The officer then had her place the vehicle in neutral, and helped push it to the side of the road. After subsequently asking the woman for her license, the officer learned that both it, and the vehicle's registration, were suspended. She was then placed under arrest and charged accordingly. After a tow truck responded to the scene, the operator was able to start and drive the woman's vehicle without any issue.

    While at the police department, officers found additional evidence to suggest that the woman was in crisis. Emergency medical personnel then responded to the station and transported her to an area hospital for treatment.

  • One of our officers stopped a vehicle for Speeding. While speaking with the driver, the officer learned that the man's license was suspended. He was then placed under arrest and charged accordingly.

    Officers responded to the area of 13th and Butler in reference to a strange woman who had reportedly slapped a 6-year-old child in the face. Once in the area, an officer saw two men pointing towards the suspect, who was standing on the steps of a nearby house. When the woman spotted the officer, she sprinted up the steps and onto the screened porch. As the officer gave pursuit, the woman attempted to run back down a second staircase, before falling on her face. Soon after she got to her feet, the officer closed the distance and guided her back down to the ground. After a brief struggle, she was placed under arrest and charged with Public Drunkenness, Disorderly Conduct, Obstruction, Battery, and Cruelty to Children in the First Degree.

    Officers responded to an address on Jones Avenue, in reference to a strange man attempting to open the door of the house while the owners were inside. According to the caller, they told the man to get off of their porch, but he had refused.

    Once on scene, officers found the man wandering in the backyard of the residence with a dark object in his hand. After ordering the man to the ground at gunpoint, they discovered that the object was a cell phone. While talking to the man, officers were able to smell a strong odor similar to that of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his body. When asked, the man indicated that he was lost and thought the house was his Air BnB. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Disorderly Conduct.
