• Officers received a report in reference to Theft of Services. While speaking with our team, the complainant stated that he was owed almost $800 for lawn maintenance, but the customer was refusing to pay. A report was filed, and no further action was taken during that time.

  • Officers responded to the area of 1st Street in reference to a complaint about a barking dog. Upon arrival, an officer heard the dog barking for approximately one minute, and then it stopped. After waiting in the area for several more minutes without hearing the animal bark, the officer returned to patrol.

    Officers responded to the parking lot of the Tybee Island Lighthouse in reference to damaged property. While speaking with our team, the complainant stated that he believed someone had struck his vehicle, dislodging the rear bumper. A report was filed, and the complainant was given a case number for follow-up purposes.

  • Officers responded to a residence in the area of Venetian Drive in reference to a theft. While speaking with our team, the victim stated that someone had stolen their "Jerry Lopez" paddleboard that same day. The board was described as being light brown in color with a light green stripe.

    A report was filed, and the case remains under investigation.

    One of our officers stopped a vehicle for failing to maintain its lane. While talking to the driver, the officer noticed that her eyes were watery and that she slurred her words as she spoke. There was also an odor similar to that of an alcoholic drink emitting from within the vehicle. When asked how much alcohol she had that evening, the woman replied that she had "one earlier, and one just before she left".

    During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the woman had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. She was then placed under arrest and charged with Failure to Maintain Lane. and DUI (Less Safe).

  • One of our officers stopped a vehicle for failing to maintain its lane. While talking to the driver, the officer noticed that his eyes were watery and that he slurred his words as he spoke. There was also an overwhelming odor of mouthwash emitting from within the vehicle, and an open bottle of Listerine in the cupholder. When asked how much alcohol he had that evening, the man admitted to "one drink".

    During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Failure to Maintain Lane, No License on Person, and DUI (Less Safe).

  • Officers responded to Christy's Department Store, located at Strand and Tybrisa, in reference to damaged property. While speaking with our team, the store owner stated that someone had broken one of the store windows facing Strand Avenue. Upon inspection, the officer noted that the window had a hole approximately 3 inches tall by 3 inches wide . There was also a broken beer bottle on the ground nearby.

    A report was filed, and the case remains under investigation.

    While on patrol, one of our officers found a man passed out on the shoulder of 14th Street. After waking the man, officers noticed that he was extremely unsteady on his feet, his eyes were red, and he slurred his words as he spoke. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Public Drunkenness.
