On Monday, December 12th, officers responded to a report of a drunk woman with a bloody face sitting outside of a local bar. While speaking with the woman, those officers learned that she was staying at a local motel with a family member. During the course of this conversation, our team began to look through the woman’s purse in an effort to help her locate her motel room key. As they did so, a random guy, who was also obviously intoxicated, approached the officers and began yelling at them to stop looking through the purse. At that time, officers instructed the man several times to walk away, to which he refused. After being advised that he was being placed under arrest, the man balled his fists and attempted to pull away, forcing officers to place him on the ground. He was subsequently charged with Disorderly Conduct. The injured woman was safely turned over into the custody of a sober family member.

On, Tuesday, December 13th, officers responded to a local bar in reference to a disorderly female. While speaking with employees, our team learned that the woman had been banned from the property in the past and was now standing behind the bar and refusing to leave. When officers asked the woman for her identification, she claimed that she didn’t have any. When asked for her name, she refused to provide it. As officers moved to place her under arrest, she began to scream, collapsed to the ground and repeatedly attempted to pull away. She was subsequently charged with Disorderly Conduct and Obstruction.

On Saturday, December 17th, one of our officers was monitoring traffic along Highway 80 when he checked a vehicle’s speed at 49mph in a 30mph zone. After stopping the vehicle, the officer smelled an odor similar to that of an alcoholic drink emitting from within. When asked if he had been drinking that evening, the driver admitted that he had. During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with Speeding and DUI.

Also on Saturday, officers responded to a local church in reference to a theft. While speaking with staff members, they learned that someone had broken the lock on a box containing a manger scene in front of the church and stolen all but the shepherds and wise men. The estimated value of the stolen statues was somewhere between $4,000 - $5,000. This is an active investigation.
