• A concerned citizen came to the Tybee Island Police Department to turn in a found Birth Certificate. Officers were able to make contact with the owner, who stated the document had blown out of his truck at a local boat ramp. A report was filed, the Birth Certificate was returned, and no further action was taken during that time.

  • Officers responded to an address on Atlantic Avenue in reference to a possible Theft of Mislaid Property. while speaking with our team, the victim stated that she ordered over $500 worth of items from Amazon, which she believes were delivered to the wrong address. A report was filed, and the victim stated her intention to follow-up with Amazon.

  • A woman walked into the lobby of the Tybee Island Police Department to report a lost license plate. While speaking with our team, the victim stated that she had driven to the island from Atlanta, and that the license plate on her trailer had apparently gone missing somewhere along the way. A report was filed, and the victim was provided with a case number for follow-up.

    One of our officers conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of a local gas station. At the conclusion of the stop, the officer was walking back to his patrol car, when the suspect vehicle accidentally backed into his push bumper. A report was filed, and no further action was taken during that time.

  • One of our officers stopped a vehicle for failing to maintain its lane.

    While talking to the driver, the officer noticed that her eyes were watery and that she slurred her words as she spoke. There was also a strong odor similar to that of an alcoholic drink wafting through her open window. When asked, the woman initially denied drinking that evening, before quickly admitting that she had “a couple”. When asked if she was willing to participate in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, the woman refused, insisting that she “wasn’t going to be arrested.” At that time, she was arrested and charged with Failure to Maintain Lane and DUI.
