Officers responded to a local motel in reference to a man refusing to leave the property. During the course of the investigation, officers learned that the man had spent two nights at the motel but was unable to pay for a third. Even so, when the time came to check out, the man refused to go. After being asked to ban the man from the property, officers issued him a Criminal Trespass warning, informing him that he would be arrested should he return.

Officers responded to the 200 block of Buter Avenue in reference to a motor vehicle accident. During the course of the investigation, officers learned that a vehicle had lost control while navigating a sharp curve, crashing into a metal barricade in the process. The vehicle then continued southbound for a couple of blocks before coming to rest on a curb.
While talking to the driver, officers noticed that her eyes were bloodshot and that she slurred her words as she spoke. She also appeared to lean against her vehicle in an effort to maintain her balance. When asked how much alcohol she had that evening, the woman replied, “Just some, just some drinks”. When asked if she would participate in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, however, the woman refused. At that time, she was placed under arrest and charged with Failure to Maintain Lane, Driving on the Wrong Side of the Road, Duty Upon Striking a Fixed Object, and DUI (Less Safe).

One of our officers stopped a vehicle for traveling 45 mph in a 30-mph speed zone.
While talking to the driver, the officer noticed that her eyes were bloodshot and that she slurred her words as she spoke. There was also an odor similar to that of an alcoholic beverage wafting through her open window. When asked how much alcohol she had that evening, the woman replied, “not much”. During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the woman had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. She was then placed under arrest and charged with Speeding, Open Container, and DUI (.08 or more).

One of our officers stopped a vehicle for traveling 41 mph in a 30-mph speed zone.
While speaking with the officer, the driver informed him that his license was suspended. During the course of their conversation, the officer also noticed a smell similar to that of an alcoholic drink emitting from the vehicle. After asking the driver to step out, the officer noticed that he was unsteady on his feet and stumbled a bit as he walked. While he initially agreed to participate in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, the tests were cut short after the man began to argue about the instructions. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Speeding, Driving While License Suspended, and DUI (Less Safe). After being placed in handcuffs, the man repeatedly informed officers that they “made a mistake” and expressed his desire to fight. An invitation which our team politely declined.

Officers responded to a local hotel in reference to a man refusing to leave the property. During the course of the investigation, our team learned that the man had rented a room the night prior but refused to leave at checkout. He then proceeded to wander around the property, at one-point climbing into a work truck while claiming to be an employee. After being asked to ban him from the property, officers issued the man a Criminal Trespass Warning, informing him that he would be arrested should he return.

Just before 1:00 AM, one of our officers spotted a truck traveling on Highway 80 with a defective headlight.
After stopping the vehicle, , the officer noticed the odor of marijuana wafting through the open window. When asked, the driver stated that he did not have any marijuana, and did not smoke. The officer then asked the driver to exit the vehicle. As he moved to comply, the passenger was overhead telling him not to let the officers search the truck. After being advised that officers had probable cause to search and did not need permission, the passenger began to reach between his legs and refused several commands to keep his hands visible. As such, he was also instructed to exit the vehicle.
During the course of a subsequent search, officers discovered multiple bags of marijuana, a digital scale, and a plastic bag containing a crystal-like substance which tested positive for Methamphetamine. When asked who the items belonged to, the passenger claimed ownership. He was then placed under arrest for Possession of Drug Related Objects, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of a Schedule II Drug. The driver was released with a warning.

Officers responded to the 1400 Block of Chatham Avenue in reference to a theft. While speaking with our team, the victim stated that someone had stolen a smoker and custom-built two-pot burner from his driveway. A report was filed, and the case remains under investigation.

Officers responded to a local motel in reference to a man loitering in the parking lot and scaring away potential guests. After being asked to ban the man from the property, officers issued him a Criminal Trespass warning, informing him that he would be arrested should he return.

Officers responded to 1514 Miller Avenue in reference to a noise complaint. Once in the area, officers could clearly hear music emitting from the residence while standing in the street. They then knocked on the door, advised the occupants of the noise ordinance, and asked them to turn the music down. A report was filed, and no further action was taken at that time.

Shortly after midnight, officers received a second noise complaint in reference to the house at 1514 Miller Avenue. While in the area, officers could hear loud music and bass clearly emitting from the residence. As they knocked on the door, a man appeared in the window, asking what they wanted. Officers then advised him of the issue and stated that they were there to write him a citation. The man then told the officers that he wasn’t going to identify himself or open the door. He also informed the officers that they were trespassing and told them to come back with a warrant. Rather than escalate the situation any further, officers informed the man that they would be obtaining arrest warrants and left the scene.

Officers responded to a local motel in reference to a report of trespassing. Once on scene, officers encountered a man who had previously been banned from the property. He was then placed under arrest for Criminal Trespass, and transported to the Chatham County Detention Center.
