• Officers responded to a local restaurant in reference to a Hit and Run. While speaking with our team, witnesses provided a description of a vehicle which struck a car parked in the lot. Though the suspect vehicle had already left the scene, officers were able to gather enough information for a detailed report, and the case remains under investigation.

  • Officers responded to a local condominium building in reference to a possible Burglary. While speaking with our team, the owner of the condo stated that it appeared someone had slept on the couch the night before, and there were dirty dishes in the sink. Upon inspection, officers were unable to find any signs of forced entry. A report was filed, and the case remains under investigation.

  • Officers responded to the area of Bay and Byers in reference to a juvenile that appeared to be in distress. Upon their arrival in the area, our team spotted the juvenile in the backyard of a nearby residence. When told to stop, the juvenile took off running, jumping a nearby brick wall before being captured. While subsequently speaking with the young man, officers were able to smell an odor similar to that of an alcoholic drink emitting from his breath. After having him checked out by Emergency Medical personnel, officers released him to the custody of his father.

    Officers responded to the area of Brewer’s Landing in reference to a report of a stolen vehicle. While speaking with officers, the caller stated that someone had stolen his vehicle out of his driveway within the past couple of hours. As officers attempted to gather more information, the man became belligerent and argumentative. When asked for his license plate number, the man asked officers, “do you know YOUR license plate?”. He then instructed the officers to leave his property, informing them that they were “useless”.

    Still wanting to provide the best service possible, officers utilized a nearby FLOCK camera system to identify the caller’s vehicle and obtain the license plate number. Officers then returned to the residence to inform the caller of the new development and ask if he wanted to proceed with reporting his vehicle stolen. He then declined any further assistance.

  • An officer stopped a vehicle for having a defective tag light. During the course of the investigation, the officer learned that the driver’s license was suspended. He was then placed under arrest and charged accordingly.

  • One of our officers stopped a vehicle for failing to maintain its lane. While speaking with the driver, the officer noted that he had interacted with the man on an earlier call for service, during which he had been visibly intoxicated. When confronted about his failure to maintain his lane, the man claimed that it was because he had been talking on his cell phone. When asked to step out of the vehicle, the man refused to comply several times, forcing officers to remove him from the car. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Failure to Maintain Lane, Hands Free Violation, Obstruction and DUI (Less Safe).

  • Just after 4:00 in the morning, one of our officers was on patrol when he spotted two juveniles walking down Highway 80. As he passed, the officer noticed that they looked his direction several times before suddenly running across the street towards a closed business. As the officer moved to investigate further, he spotted one of the juveniles climbing over a fence into the backyard of a private residence. While subsequently checking the area, units were able to round both juveniles up in short order. They were then released into the custody of their guardians.

  • Officers responded to the beach near Polk Street in reference to several spent shotgun shells having been found in the sand. Neighbors reported hearing “fireworks” in the area the night before but did not provide any further information. The shells were taken as evidence, a report was filed, and no further action was taken at the time.
