• Just before midnight, one of our officers spotted a vehicle driving on Butler Avenue without headlights. After stopping the car, the officer noticed that the driver’s eyes had a “glazed” appearance, and that he slurred his words as he spoke. there was also a strong odor similar to that of an alcoholic drink emitting from the man’s body.

    During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Failure to Use Headlights After Dark, No License on Person, and DUI.

  • One of our officers stopped a vehicle for having a cracked windshield. When asked for his license, the driver claimed that he didn’t have it with him but provided the officer with a name and date of birth. Unfortunately for him, further investigation would reveal that the information was fake. When confronted, the man admitted to the lie, citing the fact that his license was actually suspended. He was then placed under arrest, and charged with Cracked Windshield, Driving While License Suspended, and Obstruction.

  • Officers responded to the 1500 block of Butler Avenue in reference to a drunk man peeing on a tree. While talking to the suspect, our team noticed that his eyes were bloodshot and that he slurred his words as he spoke. There was also a strong odor similar to that of an alcoholic drink emitting from his body. During the course of the conversation, the officers noted that the man tended to ramble and seemed to struggle to form coherent words and sentences.

    At or around this same time, several witnesses reported seeing the man peeing on a tree in front of a bar. He was then placed under arrest. As officers attempted to walk him to a patrol car, the man allowed himself to go “dead weight”, collapsing to the ground and refusing to stand back up. After being physically loaded into the car, he beat on the divider several times. and informed officers that he “had a lawyer who had gotten him off of murder charges in the past”. During the booking process, he appeared to have a medical emergency and was transported to a local hospital by Emergency Medical personnel. In the end, he was charged with Public Drunkenness, Public Indecency, and Obstruction.

  • Officers received a report in reference to a possible theft. While speaking with our team, a woman reported receiving a package from FedEx. Upon inspection, she noticed that the box had already been opened, and that the two Apple Watches she ordered were missing from the inside. She then contacted the seller, who advised her that she would need a police report in order to be refunded.

    A report was filed, and no further action was taken during that time.

  • One of our officers stopped a vehicle for failing to maintain its lane. While talking to the driver, the officer noticed that she smelled similar to an alcoholic drink, and that she slurred her words as she spoke. When asked how much she had to drink that evening, the woman admitted to having “two Vodka and teas”. During the course of the conversation, the officer asked the woman to step out of the vehicle and walk over to the sidewalk. As she attempted to comply, she fell face first into a telephone pole. After helping the woman to her feet, the officer placed her under arrest and requested for EMS personnel to meet them at the police department.

    After being assessed by Emergency Medical workers, the woman refused to be transported to a hospital. In the end, she was charged with Failure to Maintain Lane and DUI (.08 or more).

  • Officers responded to the area of a local motel in reference to a man passed out in the middle of the road. After officers helped him to his feet, the man began to stumble away. Our team then explained to the man that he was being detained until they were able to verify certain information. At one point, the man turned away from officers and refused to cooperate any further. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Disorderly Conduct.

  • Officers responded to an address on 14th Street in reference to Entering an Auto. While speaking with our team, the victims stated that someone had rummaged through three cars while they were parked in the driveway. Items stolen from the vehicles during the incident included a ring and a bottle of change. A fourth vehicle was not entered, due to the fact that it was locked at the time of the thefts.

    A report was filed, and the case remains under investigation.
