• One of our officers stopped a vehicle after spotting the driver holding his cellphone, a violation of Georgia’s “Hands Free” law. While speaking with the driver, the officer was able to smell an odor of marijuana emitting from within the vehicle. A subsequent search based on probable cause revealed both, a small amount of marijuana and a plastic bag containing a white powdery residue. During the course of the subsequent investigation, officers found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of an unknown substance. He was then placed under arrest and charged with a “Hands Free” violation and DUI (Less Safe).

  • Officers responded to Savannah Beach Nursing Home in reference to a missing 72-year-old patient. Our team searched the streets and beach while also reaching out to social and mainstream media outlets. After receiving a tip later that evening, our team responded to the area of nearby “Rails and Trails”, where they found the missing man sleeping on a picnic table. He was then transported to a local hospital by emergency medical personnel as a precautionary measure.

  • While on patrol, one of our officers encountered a man who was so intoxicated he was barely able to stand. While speaking with the officer, the man was unable to provide a coherent answer as to where he was staying for the evening. When asked about his friends, the man indicated that they left him to “go smoke weed on the beach”. As the officer continued in his attempts to help the man find his way home, he continued to be met with vague answers, and the man’s expressed desire to “smoke weed on the beach with his friends”. Realizing that the man’s level of intoxication made him a danger to himself or others, the officer placed him under arrest for Disorderly Conduct.

  • One of our officers stopped a vehicle for having an obscured license plate. During the course of the investigation, the officer learned that the driver’s license was suspended. He was then placed under arrest and charged accordingly.
