In the early morning hours of Sunday, February 27th, one of our officers was on patrol when he spotted a vehicle traveling at 46 mph in the 30 mph speed zone on Butler Avenue. At that time, the officer activated his emergency lights and siren and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle continued to travel approximately 8 more blocks before finally coming to a stop. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with Speeding and Fleeing and Attempting to Elude.

On Tuesday, March 1st, one of our officers was on patrol when he spotted a Sports Utility Vehicle traveling on Highway 80 with the hatch open, creating a hazard for other drivers on the roadway. After stopping the vehicle, the officer learned that the driver did not have a license. She was subsequently placed under arrest and charged accordingly.

On Saturday, March 5, one of our officers was on patrol when he observed a car traveling at a high rate of speed while failing to maintain it’s lane. After stopping the vehicle, the officer smelled an odor similar to that of an alcoholic beverage emitting from within. The officer also noticed that the driver’s speech was slurred and that he demonstrated a loss of fine motor skills when he struggled with remove his license from his wallet. During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with Failure to Maintain Lane and Driving Under the Influence.
