A man and woman came to the Tybee Island Police Department to report harassing phone calls. While speaking with our team, the pair stated that a former business associate had been spreading lies about them and publicly posting their contact information on social media. As a result, they had received threatening calls from complete strangers. In addition, the former associate had contacted them directly, making comments suggesting that they “needed to die” and that he “knew where they and their kids live”. A report was filed, and the complainants were provided with information for follow-up.

A man came to the Tybee Island Police Department to report that his parking decal had been stolen. While speaking with our team, the man reported that the decal had gone missing sometime between January 27th and January 29th but was unsure as to exactly where the theft occurred. A report was filed, and the complainant was provided with information for follow-up.

One of our officers stopped a vehicle for having a large crack on its windshield. While speaking with the driver, the officer learned that the man did not have a license. He was then placed under arrest and charged with a Windshield Violation and No Driver’s License.

Officers responded to the North Beach parking lot in reference to damage to city property. Once on scene, they met with employees of the Department of Public Works, who pointed out new graffiti on one of the beach crossovers. A closer look revealed that the vandalism included the words “Home Boyz” in red spray paint. A report was filed, and no further action was taken at that time.

One of our officers stopped a vehicle for failure to maintain lane. While talking to the driver, the officer noticed that his eyes were bloodshot, and that he slurred his words as he spoke. When asked how much he had to drink that evening, the man replied that he “probably had four beers with dinner”. During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Failure to Maintain Lane and DUI (Less Safe).

Officers responded to a local condominium complex in reference to criminal trespass. While speaking with our team, the caller stated that it appeared as if someone had broken into an unoccupied condo. Upon inspection, officers noted that the doorframe and lock were broken, as if someone had kicked it with force.
A report was filed, and the case remains under investigation.

Officers responded to a local hotel in reference to suspicious activity. While speaking with officers, the caller stated that she had been in her hotel room when she heard a woman screaming for help. When she looked outside, she saw two males in dark clothing jumping a fence, and overheard one of them ask, “Are we going to jump on this bitch at the same time?”. Afterwards she could hear a woman running and continuing to scream for help.
During the course of their conversation with the caller, officers spotted two men who matched the description of the suspects walking across the parking lot. After being detained, the men provided their biographical information to officers but denied any knowledge of the alleged incident. Officers then checked the area but were unable to locate a potential victim. As such, the men were released. A report was filed, and no further action was taken during that time.

One of our officers stopped a vehicle for traveling 63 mph in a 30-mph speed zone. While talking with the driver, the officer noticed that his eyes were bloodshot and that he slurred his words as he spoke. During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Speeding, Reckless Driving, and DUI (Less Safe).
