One of our officers stopped a vehicle for failing to stop at a stop sign. When asked for her license, the driver claimed that she didn’t have it with her. The officer then asked for her name and date of birth, at which time she provided information that proved to be fake. When confronted about her lie, the woman claimed that she had been “nervous”, because she knew her license was suspended. Of course, that turned out to be the least of her worries. A check of the woman’s ACTUAL name and date of birth through the GCIC computer system revealed that she had an active warrant through another jurisdiction. She was then placed under arrest and charged with Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign, Driving While License Suspended, and Giving a False Name and Date of Birth to Law Enforcement, before being transported to the Chatham County Detention Center to answer for her non-local warrant.
