• One of our officers stopped a vehicle for failing to maintain its lane. While walking up to the car, the officer spotted several open containers of alcohol in the back seat and center console. Once at the window, the officer noticed that the driver's eyes were bloodshot and that he slurred his words as he spoke. During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating the vehicle while under the influence. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Failure to Maintain Lane, Open Container, Driving While License Suspended, and DUI (Less Safe).

    Officers responded to a local souvenir store in reference to a possible theft. While speaking with our team, the store manager stated that two people walked into the store, grabbed two "boogie boards" each, and then ran out without paying. A witness watched the thieves get into a vehicle and was able to provide the license plate number to the manager. She then provided that number to police. A report was filed, and the case remains under investigation.

  • While on patrol, one of our officers spotted a vehicle failing to maintain its lane on Butler Avenue. As the officer continued to watch, the vehicle failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection with 18th street. At that time, the officer activated his emergency lights and initiated a traffic stop.

    While speaking with the driver, the officer noticed that his eyes were "glossy", and that he seemed to have trouble producing requested documentation. After being asked to step out of the vehicle, the man appeared to have difficulty removing his seatbelt. During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest the man had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Failure to Maintain Lane, Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign, and DUI (.08 or more).

  • One of our officers stopped a vehicle after noticing that the passenger wasn't wearing a seatbelt. During the course of the investigation, the officer learned that the passenger in question had an active warrant through another jurisdiction. He was then placed under arrest and transported to the Chatham County Detention Center to answer for his non-local warrant.

    While speaking with the driver, the officer noticed that the man's eyes were bloodshot, and there was an odor of marijuana emitting from within the vehicle. When asked, the man admitted to smoking around thirty minutes prior. During the course of the subsequent investigation, officers found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating the vehicle while under the influence. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Failure to Maintain Lane, Seatbelt Violation, Window Tint Violation, Open Container, and DUI (Less Safe).

  • Officers received a report in reference to a possible theft. While speaking with our team, the caller stated her belief that her Apple iPad was stolen from a local condo last month. A report was filed, and the case remains under investigation.

    While on patrol, one of our officers spotted a vehicle pulling into a parking spot in front of the police department, striking a curb in the process. The vehicle then backed out of the spot and pulled into a driveway behind the building in an apparent to hide. During this time, the officer also noticed that the vehicle did not have a license plate.

    Upon approaching the vehicle, officers noticed that the driver's eyes were bloodshot, and there was an odor similar to that of an alcoholic drink emitting from her breath as she spoke. During the course of the subsequent investigation, officers found additional evidence to suggest that the woman had been operating the vehicle while under the influence. She was then placed under arrest and charged with Obscured or Missing License Plate, and DUI (Under 21).

  • Officers received a report in reference to a possible theft. While speaking with our team, the caller stated that he let an acquaintance borrow his enclosed trailer. When he asked for it to be returned, however, the man refused. A report was filed, and the case remains under investigation.

    Officers responded to the area of the North Beach parking lot in reference to a photo booth having been broken into. Upon inspection, officers noticed that the door that protects the internal components of the booth was open, and the currency box appeared to have been removed. A report was filed, and the case remains under investigation.

    Officers responded to the area of Jaycee Park in reference to damage to property. While speaking with our team, the caller stated that while she was at the park, a large tree branch fell onto her vehicle, shattering the windshield. A report was filed, and the case number was provided to the caller for follow-up purposes.

  • One of our officers stopped a vehicle for driving the wrong way on Tybrisa, a one-way street.

    While talking with the driver, the officer noticed that his eyes were bloodshot and that he slurred his words as he spoke. He also noticed an odor similar to that of an alcoholic drink emitting from within the vehicle. During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating the vehicle while under the influence. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Wrong Way on a One Way and DUI (Less Safe).
