Officers responded to the area of 2nd Street and 2nd Avenue in reference to a possible Hit and Run. While speaking with our team, the victim stated that he had been parked on the side of the road when the suspect vehicle attempted to pass him, clipping his mirror in the process. When the suspect didn't stop, the victim followed him to a private driveway. Once there, the victim attempted to block the driveway with his vehicle to keep the suspect from leaving and called the police.
As officers arrived on scene, the suspect was able to navigate around the victim's vehicle and drove away. At that time, officers activated their emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to perform a traffic stop. Instead of pulling over, however, the suspect vehicle continued onwards for several more blocks, before finally coming to a stop. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with Hit and Run and Fleeing/Attempting to Elude.

One of our officers stopped a vehicle for speeding. While talking with the driver, the officer noticed that his eyes were red and that he slurred his words as he spoke. When asked, the man admitted to having "three or four beers", before changing his answer to "a shot of Tequila and two beers with food". During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Speeding, Open Container, and DUI (Less Safe).

Officers received a report in reference to a suspicious incident which occurred the night before. While speaking with our team, the victim stated that she and her family were at the Walmart on Whitemarsh Island, when a group of young men began yelling at them from across the parking lot. As the group approached, the victim and her family drove out of the lot, and towards Tybee Island.
As they pulled up to a red light at Highway 80 and Campbell Avenue, the group of young men pulled up beside them in a pickup truck. At that time, the group began yelling "swears and slurs", before one of them threw an unopened can of beer at the victim's vehicle, denting the door just below the handle. As the light turned green, the pickup truck made a U-turn and drove back towards Savannah.
A report was filed, and no further action was taken during that time.

Officers responded to the area of Polk Street in reference to an improperly parked vehicle blocking the beach access point for several hours. The vehicle was subsequently towed from the scene.

Officers responded to the area of Lovell Avenue in reference to a golf cart crash. Once on scene, officers were able to locate blood and debris but no golf cart. While speaking with our team, a witness reported seeing a golf cart roll over onto its side. As it did so, one occupant went through the windshield, while another simply fell off the cart. The witness further stated that he told the pair that they needed to clean up their mess, to which they responded by telling him to "F--- off", before driving away. During the course of the investigation, officers were able to track the cart to a residence on 17th Street.
While speaking with officers, the driver of the cart confirmed the crash, stating that it happened after his passenger suddenly decided to jerk the wheel. During the course of the conversation, officers assessed the man for signs of impairment, but did not believe him to be under the influence. A report was filed, and no further action was taken at that time.

Just before 9:00PM, one of our officers stopped a vehicle for driving on Highway 80 without headlights.
While talking with the driver, officers noticed that his eyes were bloodshot and that he slurred his words as he spoke. There was also an odor of marijuana emitting from within the vehicle. When asked, the man admitted to smoking weed within the last hour. During the course of the subsequent investigation, officers discovered additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of drugs. During the course of a search incident to arrest, officers found a box of what appeared to be hallucinogenic mushrooms. The man was subsequently charged with Headlight Requirements, Window Tint Violation, Possession of a Schedule I Drug, and DUI (Less Safe - Drugs).

Officers responded to a local gas station in reference to one man punching another. While speaking with our team, the victim stated that he obtained the code to unlock the exterior restroom from employees of the gas station. As he was attempting to unlock the door, he was confronted by the manager of another nearby business, who accused the victim of not having the code. As the victim walked back into the gas station to confirm the code, the manager followed him through the door before punching him in the side of the neck. The manager then ran away.
During the course of the investigation, several witnesses confirmed the victim's account of events, and pointed out the manager as the aggressor. The manager was then placed under arrest and charged with Simple Battery.

One of our officers stopped a vehicle for speeding and failing to maintain its lane. While speaking with the driver, the officer was able to smell a strong odor similar to that of an alcoholic drink emitting from within the vehicle. During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Speeding, Failure to Maintain Lane, and DUI (Less Safe).

O{fficers responded to the area of Highway 80 and Campbell Avenue in reference to a reckless driver. After locating the vehicle, our team conducted a traffic stop near Highway 80 and Butler. As the officers exited their cars, however, the suspect vehicle suddenly made a sharp U-turn, almost striking several vehicles in the process. The suspect then led officers on a cross-island pursuit, during which he showed reckless disregard for the safety of motorists, officers, and pedestrians. The suspect was last seen heading towards Savannah on Highway 80 at speeds estimated to be in excess of 80 mph. Officers then terminated the pursuit and asked dispatch to notify Chatham County and the Georgia State Patrol. A report was filed, and no further action was taken during that time.

One of our officers stopped a vehicle for speeding. While speaking with the driver, the officer noted that the woman was argumentative and "short" with the answers to his questions. He also noticed an odor similar to that of an alcoholic drink emitting from within the vehicle. When asked, the woman admitted to having a "Strawberrita". During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the woman had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. She also became more argumentative and eventually refused to answer any questions the officer had. She was then placed under arrest and charged with Speeding and DUI (Less Safe).
Once at the Tybee Island Police Department, the woman continued her argumentative behavior and at one point became combative, punching two officers in the face. She was then taken to the ground, where she continued to fight, and reportedly attempted to bite our team. Once under control, she was transported to a local hospital for medical clearance, before being transferred to the Chatham County Detention Center. There, she was booked into custody for Speeding, DUI (Less Safe) and Felony Obstruction.
