• Officers responded to the area of General George Marshall Blvd, in reference to a group of subjects driving through the caller's front yard on a golf cart. While speaking with our team, the caller showed them a photo of the group in question and stated that they drove through his yard while trying to avoid a speed bump. He also submitted the information to the Short-Term Vacation Rental host compliance hotline.

    A report was filed, and no further action was taken during this time.

    One of our officers attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding and failing to maintain its lane on Highway 80. Instead of pulling over however, the vehicle continued down the highway before turning into Spanish Hammock. As officers continued to pursue, the vehicle pulled into the driveway of a private residence and finally came to a stop. After exiting her vehicle, the driver was taken into custody. As they were placing her in handcuffs, officers were able to smell an odor similar to that of an alcoholic drink emitting from the woman's breath. She was subsequently charged with Speeding, Failure to Maintain Lane, Failure to Signal, Fleeing and Attempting to Elude, and DUI (Less Safe).

  • Just after 6:00AM, officers responded to the area of the 19th Street crossover in reference to a vehicle parked on the beach. During the investigation, officers found a man and woman sleeping partially nude in the back seat. There were also multiple open containers of alcohol scattered throughout the car. After waking the couple, officers placed both under arrest.

    The man was subsequently charged with Vehicle on the Beach, Open Container, Public Drunkenness, and Public Indecency. The woman was charged with Open Container, Public Drunkenness, and Public Indecency.

    While on patrol, one of our officers saw a subject who had been previously arrested for stealing bicycles. After spotting our officers, the man began to turn his bicycle down side streets and behind businesses in an apparent effort to avoid detection. Our team caught back up when the man stopped to inspect another bicycle parked on the side of the road. After speaking with the man, officers learned that he had been banned from the island by court order. While placing him under arrest, officers found the man to be in possession of a pair of pliers capable of cutting a bike lock. He was subsequently charged with Loitering and Prowling, Possession of Tools for the Commission of a Crime, and Criminal Trespass.

  • One of our officers stopped a vehicle for speeding. While speaking with the driver, the officer was able to smell the odor of marijuana emitting from within the car. A subsequent search based on probable cause revealed a THC vape pen and a single pill. Preliminary identification indicated that the pill was Oxycodone. When asked, the woman referred to the substance as "Roxy", but claimed that it belonged to a friend. She was then placed under arrest and charged with Speeding, Suspended Registration, Possession of Drug Related Objects, Drugs Not in the Original Container, and Possession of a Schedule II substance.

  • Officers responded to the North Beach parking lot in reference to damage to property. While speaking with our team, the victim stated that she had returned to her parked vehicle to find the rear windshield broken. Closer inspection revealed a note from a woman, who claimed that her child had thrown a rock and accidentally broken the glass. Officers were able to make contact with the woman who left the note, and she returned to the parking lot to exchange information with the victim. A report was filed, and no further action was taken at this time.

    Officers responded to a local golf cart rental agency in reference to a Hit and Run. While speaking with our team, the caller stated that a gray in color Sports Utility Vehicle had sped into the parking lot, striking several golf carts, before fleeing the scene. During the course of the investigation, officers obtained the license plate number of the suspect vehicle.

    A report was filed, and the case was forwarded to investigations.

  • Officers responded to a local gas station in reference to a Hit and Run. While speaking with our team, the victim stated that he was at the gas pumps, when a large pickup backed into the front fender of his motorcycle. The truck then fled the scene. During the course of the investigation, officers were able to obtain a license plate number for the suspect vehicle.

    A report was filed, and the case was forwarded to investigations.
