• Just after 1:00 AM, one of our officers spotted a vehicle turning left from 9th Street onto Butler Avenue, failing to stop for the stop sign in the process. After stopping the vehicle, the officer learned that it was occupied by a female driver and four children. While speaking with the driver, the officer was able to smell odors similar to both an alcoholic drink, and marijuana. He also noted that the driver’s eyes were watery and that she slurred her words as she spoke. During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the woman had been operating the motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. She was then placed under arrest, and charged with Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign, Failure to Maintain Lane, Driving While License Suspended, DUI and Endangering a Child While DUI. After her arrest, the children were safely turned over to the custody of a family member.
