In the early morning hours of Sunday, March 13th, officers responded to the area of Highway 80 in reference to a motor vehicle crash. Upon their arrival, those officers found one of the vehicles overturned in the roadway and resting on it’s roof. After stopping the cart, the officer noted that the driver’s speech was slurred and that he had a strong odor similar to that of an alcoholic drink emitting from his body. In the morning hours of Thursday, March 17th, one of our officers was on patrol when he found a woman sleeping on the ground outside of a local business. After waking the woman, the officer noted that she didn’t have any visible injuries and seemed both coherent and aware of her surroundings. When asked for her name and date of birth, the woman initially provided two different false names. When checks of each of these names failed to return any identifying information, the woman finally admitted that she wasn’t being truthful and provided the correct information. She was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with Giving False Information to a Law Enforcement Officer.
That same date, officers responded to a local restaurant in reference to a fight between two women. After officers arrived on scene, witnesses stated that the victim had been standing in line waiting to order food, when the suspect cut in line in front of her. At that point, the victim told the suspect to go to the back of the line, to which the suspect responded by punching her in the side of the head. Upon investigation, the officers found that there was a visible bruise on the side of the victim’s head. While officers were attempting to speak with the suspect, she turned and attempted to walk away. As officers moved to place the suspect under arrest, she began to scream, tense her body and attempt to pull away, forcing them to place her on the ground in order to get her into handcuffs. She was subsequently charged with Simple Battery and Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officer.

On Saturday, March 19th, one of our officers was working an off-duty security job at a local restaurant. During this time, an obviously intoxicated man approached the officer, told him that he “had a nice mustache” and attempted to grab the officer’s face. The officer then pushed the man’s hand away, to which the man responded by grabbing the officer’s arm. At that time, the officer walked the man off of the property and told him to go home for the evening. A short time later, the man once again approached the officer and shoved his cell phone towards the officer’s face. As the officer moved to place the man under arrest, he began to actively attempt to pull away. At that time, several bystanders stepped forward and pushed the drunk man to a nearby wall so that the officer could successfully place him in handcuffs. The man was subsequently charged with Disorderly Conduct.
