On Wednesday, 02/09, one of our officers was monitoring traffic along Butler Avenue when he saw a car fail to stop for a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk. After being pulled over, the driver of the car explained that he didn’t stop due to the the fact that his cellphone had fallen out of his lap into the floorboard and he was distracted by trying to pick it back up. During the course of the stop, the officer learned that not only was the driver’s license suspended, but the vehicle’s registration was also suspended for having no insurance. At that time, the driver was placed under arrest and charged with Failure to Yield at a Crosswalk, License Not on Person, Driving While License Suspended, Driving While Registration Suspended, No Insurance and a Hands Free Violation.
