• A woman walked into the lobby of the Tybee Island Police Department to report that someone had stolen her purse from her inside of vehicle. According to the victim, the theft occurred on November 9th, and someone used one of her credit cards at a Dollar General in Waynesboro, Georgia, later that same day.

    A report was filed, and the case was forwarded to Investigations.

    Officers responded to a local hotel in reference to a private property accident. During the course of the investigation, officers learned that a delivery truck operator attempted to drive the vehicle under an overhang, resulting in the top of the truck colliding with the building. A report was filed, and no further action was taken during that time.

    A woman walked into the Tybee Island Police Department to report that someone attempted to steal the parking decal from the windshield of her vehicle. A report was filed, and the victim was advised about how to obtain a replacement decal.

  • Officers responded to a local restaurant just before 3:00AM in reference to an open door. Once on scene, our team checked the interior of the building for intruders. After finding no one inside, they continued to perform extra patrols of the area throughout the night.

  • Officers responded to The Park at 7 Flags in reference to an accident. While speaking with our team, City of Tybee Island firefighters reported that a man had driven on a nearby sidewalk, striking a trash can and two signs in the process.

    According to the driver, as he turned onto Inlet Avenue, he encountered a couple of fire trucks, which he believed to be parked on the wrong side of the road. Attempting to pass them on the left, he realized too late that he was actually driving on the sidewalk.

    During the course of their conversation, an officer noted that the man’s eyes were “glossy”, and that he slurred his words as he spoke. When asked, the man admitted to drinking wine several hours prior. During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that he had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Reckless Driving and DUI (Less Safe).
