On Tuesday, 11/16, one of our officers was on patrol in the area of Butler Avenue when he used his RADAR device to check a vehicle’s speed at 45 in a 30 mph zone. After stopping the vehicle, the officer learned that the driver’s license was suspended for a “Super Speeder” violation earlier this year. She was subsequently placed under arrest and booked into custody on the charges of Speeding and Driving While License Suspended.
On Thursday, 11/18, our dispatch center received a call in reference to a possible drunk driver on a motorcycle. A few moments later, a second caller advised us of a motorcycle which had just crashed in the area of Polk and Bay Streets. Upon his arrival in the area, our officer located a motorcyclist with bloody knees and deduced that this was probably the person he was looking for. During the course of their subsequent conversation the officer noted that the man had slurred speech and that he admitted to drinking “two Vodkas” earlier that evening. Further investigation revealed additional evidence that the man had been operating the motorcycle while under the influence of alcohol. He was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with DUI.
On Friday, 11/19, one of our officers was on foot patrol in the area of Butler and Tybrisa, when he observed a group of people pushing and shoving one another. As the officer approached, he drew his Taser from it’s holster and instructed the group to stop fighting. One man refused to comply and was tasered. He was subsequently treated by Emergency Medical personnel and booked into custody on the charge of Disorderly Conduct.
The holidays are here and that means it’s time for Santa to start checking that list twice. Driving Under the Influence and street fighting are two surefire ways to end up with nothing but a lump of coal in your stocking! It’s time to get into the spirit of the season by putting aside your differences, calling a cab and staying on your best behavior into the new year!
