On Sunday, November 6th, officers responded to a local bar in reference to a couple refusing to pay their tab. As the first officer arrived on scene, he encountered the pair as they attempted to push past him towards the door. After detaining the suspects, officers spoke with employees of the bar who stated that the male half had become disorderly and yelled at them “about how much money his parents made” when asked for payment. During the course of the investigation, officers learned that the man was in possession of several credit cards and asked which one he would like to use to pay his tab, to which he replied, “All of them”. Employees of the bar then swiped each card, with each returning as having been declined. After it became clear that neither the man nor woman had the means to pay for the drinks they consumed, they were both placed under arrest for Theft of Services. As officers placed the man in handcuffs, he clenched his fists and attempted to pull away, earning an additional charge of Disorderly Conduct.

That same day, one of our officers was monitoring traffic along Highway 80 when he checked a vehicle’s speed at 60 MPH in the 35 MPH zone. After stopping the vehicle, the officer smelled a strong odor similar to that of an alcoholic drink emitting from within and noticed that the driver’s eyes were watery and that he slurred his words as he spoke. During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. At that time, he was placed under arrest and charged with Speeding and DUI. While conducting an inventory of the vehicle prior to it being towed from the scene, officers found several open beer cans, resulting in an additional charge of Open Container.

In the early morning hours of Monday, November 7th, one of our officers was on patrol in the area of Tybrisa Street, when he came across a man sleeping in the middle of the roadway. Upon closer inspection, the officer noticed that the man had apparently urinated on himself, and both of his shoes were untied. After waking the man, the officer asked where he was staying for the night, but the man was unwilling or unable to provide an answer. At that time, the man was placed under arrest for Disorderly Conduct. While at the jail, the man complained of abdominal pain, and was subsequently turned over to emergency medical personnel for transport to a local hospital.

On Tuesday, November 8th, one of our officers was on patrol in the area of Jones Avenue, when he watched a car proceed through the intersection at 6th Street without stopping for the stop sign. After pulling the vehicle over, the officer learned that the driver’s license was suspended. She was subsequently placed under arrest and charged accordingly.

On Friday, November 11th, one of our officers was parked along Inlet Avenue, when he watched a vehicle proceed through the intersection of Lovell and Inlet without stopping for the stop sign. After pulling the vehicle over, the officer learned that the driver’s license was suspended. He ws subsequently placed under arrest and charged accordingly.
