Tybee Island Police Make Quick Arrests Following Vehicle Break-ins

(Tybee Island, GA) The Tybee Island Police Department has arrested five juveniles and three adults after three cars were broken into and a golf cart was stolen early this morning.
Just before 6AM on Tuesday, February 22, officers of the Tybee Island Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle having been broken into. Over the next several hours, the officers would be dispatched to reports of two more vehicle break-ins and a stolen golf cart. While conducting a neighborhood canvass, officers located five juvenile suspects, ranging from the ages of 12 to 16, and were able to link them to the earlier thefts.
As the investigation progressed, officers received additional information about a suspect vehicle and three adults who were also involved in the crimes. While on patrol, officers successfully located the vehicle and took all three adult suspects into custody without incident. During the course of the arrests, officers recovered several stolen items to include sunglasses and prescription pills. The suspect vehicle was also impounded and a search warrant is pending at this time.
The five juvenile suspects were each charged with three counts of Entering an Auto and one count of Theft by Taking a Motor Vehicle. The three adult suspects were each charged with three counts of Entering an Auto. This is an ongoing investigation and additional charges may follow.
