• Officers responded to an address on Bay Street in reference to a stranger refusing to leave the property. Upon arrival, officers found the suspect standing in the front yard of the residence, covered in grass and sand. When asked if the homeowner had told him to leave, the man nodded "yes". During the course of the subsequent conversation, officers noticed the suspect's speech was slurred and there was an odor similar to that of an alcoholic drink emitting from his body. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Disorderly Conduct.

    Officers responded to a local hotel in reference to a gun having been found in the parking lot. Upon their arrival, officers took custody of the weapon and placed it into our property room for safekeeping.

  • One of our officers stopped a vehicle for speeding. While talking to the driver, the officer smelled an odor similar to that of an alcoholic drink that became stronger as the man spoke. During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Speeding and DUI (.08 or more).

    Later that day, another officer stopped a vehicle for driving the wrong way on 18th Street (Beachside). While speaking with the driver, the officer learned that the man's license was suspended. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Wrong Way on a One Way and Driving While License Suspended.

  • Officers responded to the area of Butler and 15th Street in reference to a possible theft. While speaking with our team, the caller stated that someone had stolen his electric scooter from where it was parked next to him, as he slept on the pier. A report was filed, and no further action was taken during that time.

    While on patrol, one of our officers spotted a vehicle driving the wrong way on Tybrisa Street. After stopping the vehicle, the officer learned that it did not valid insurance. While talking to the driver, the officer noticed that her eyes were bloodshot and that she slurred her words as she spoke. During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the woman had been operating the vehicle while under the influence. She was then placed under arrest and charged with Wrong Way on a One Way, No Insurance, No License on Person, Open Container, and DUI (Less Safe).

  • Officers responded to the River's End Campground in reference to an outsider using areas such as the pool and showers, which are intended for paying customers only. While speaking with our team, the suspect claimed that he had been given permission to use the facilities "as a guest of his aunt". Further investigation revealed, however, that the man was lying. The officer also recognized the suspect as someone who had a history of trespassing at other locations across the island. At the request of campground staff, the man was issued a Criminal Trespass warning, and informed that he would be subject to arrest if he returned.

    Officers responded to an address on Bay Street in reference to a stolen vehicle. While speaking with our team, the victim stated that someone had stolen his Sports Utility Vehicle while it was parked in his garage. When asked, the victim stated that the garage had been unlocked, but the keys were not in the SUV. A report was filed, and the vehicle was entered into the GCIC computer system as stolen.

    Officers received a report in reference to damaged property. While speaking with our team, the caller stated that she and her boyfriend had been working at a local restaurant, when another woman approached her boyfriend and began yelling at him. Several minutes after the pair were separated, the boyfriend reportedly walked out into the parking lot and discovered that three of the tires on his vehicle had been slashed. A report was filed, and the case was forwarded to investigations.

  • Officers responded to 15th and Strand in reference to an improperly parked vehicle. Upon their arrival, our team found a vehicle which had been parked perpendicular to the sidewalk, in what was supposed to be a parallel parking space. As a result, the vehicle was blocking the eastbound side of the roadway. Closer inspection revealed several empty beer bottles inside. A wrecker service was contacted, and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

    Later that evening, our team responded to a local souvenir store in reference to an open door. While talking to our officers, the caller stated that after finding the door open, she realized that there didn't appear to be anyone inside. At that time, she stepped back and contacted the police. After checking the inside of the store, officers were able to lock the door. A report was filed, and no further action was taken at that time.

  • Officers responded to an address on 17th Street in reference to a possible Burglary. Upon arrival, officers found a pair of shorts and shoes in the driveway but noted that the house was locked and there didn't appear to be anyone inside. During the course of the investigation, a neighbor approached officers with a cellphone that someone had left on his front porch overnight. Officers then took custody of the phone and placed it into our property room for safekeeping. A report was filed, and no further action was taken during that time.

    One of our officers stopped a vehicle for having a defective taillight. While talking with the driver, the officer was hit by an overwhelming odor of perfume mixed with a smell similar to that of an alcoholic drink. He also noticed that the driver's eyes had a "glazed" appearance, and that she seemed to struggle in providing answers to even the simplest of questions. During the course of the investigation, the officer noted that the woman's passengers included a young child in a booster seat. When asked if she was willing to participate in Field Sobriety Testing, the woman refused. She was then placed under arrest, and charged with a Taillight Violation, DUI (Less Safe) and Endangering a Child While DUI.

  • One of our officers stopped a pickup truck for failing to maintain its lane and failure to stop at a stop sign. While talking with the 16-year-old driver, the officer noticed that his eyes were bloodshot and that he slurred his words as he spoke. The officer also noticed two shotguns and a rifle in the cab of the truck. As a result, he asked the driver to step out of the vehicle in order to separate him from the weapons for the remainder of the stop. After the driver exited, the officer spotted the cap from a "Crown Royal" bottle sitting in the driver's seat.

    During the course of the subsequent investigation, officers found additional evidence to suggest that the teen had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Failure to Maintain Lane, Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign, Possession of Alcohol by a Minor, Possession of Tobacco by a Minor, Window Tint Violation, and DUI (Less Safe). The three firearms were taken into police custody and placed into our property room for safekeeping.
